Tip leads to discovery of gun on student at North High School

School officials say a North St. Paul high school went into crisis protocol Tuesday after administrators received a tip that a student had a gun.

In a letter sent to families, North High School Principal Kevin Wolff said someone told the school a student had a weapon with him. While the school investigated, students were placed under "inside event" protocol, meaning classroom doors were locked and movement was restricted in the halls.

The school resource officer searched the student in question and found a gun, Wolff said.

The school is cooperating as North St. Paul police investigate the incident.
