Frontline bonus pay group fails to reach compromise, sends 2 proposals to legislature

Minnesota lawmakers in the Frontline Worker Bonus Pay Working Group have sent two proposals to the state legislature after failing to reach a compromise.

The move Wednesday came six weeks after an original September deadline.

The Republican proposal would give $1,200 to around 160,000 workers, mostly health care employees and first responders.

The DFL proposal offers $375 to 667,000 workers, including health care and food service workers, first responders and many others.

Both sides expressed frustration over being unable to reach a compromise on how to distribute $250 million in pandemic relief money.

A date for a special session hasn’t yet been set.
