Bicyclist dies after being hit by car in Rosemount; driver in custody

Police say a bicyclist is dead after a car hit him Monday afternoon in Rosemount.

According to the Rosemount Police Department, emergency personnel responded to a report that a bicyclist was hit by a car around 3:23 p.m. near County Road 42 and 145th Street West. The man who was riding the bike was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who was driving the car has been taken into custody for questioning, police said.

The victim’s identity and cause of death will be released following an autopsy by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

An investigation is ongoing. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with crash reconstruction.
