Long-term ramp closures begin Tuesday along I-35W, portions of I-35W and I-94 to close overnight
Long-term ramp closures kick in this week along Interstate 35W in south Minneapolis.
The ramp from I-35W northbound at 36th Street will close starting 10 p.m. Tuesday. The ramp from 46th Street to I-35W northbound closes Tuesday night as well. Both ramps will stay closed until September 2021. Drivers hoping to exit at 36th Street can exit at 46th Street instead. Motorists will still be able to use Diamond Lake Road to access I-35W northbound.
Watch for a couple of overnight closures along I-35W this week as well. On Monday, the southbound side of I-35W closes from I-94 to Highway 62 starting at 10 p.m. until the following morning at 5 a.m. Tuesday night, both directions will close at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Meanwhile, it’s time to get the Lowry Hill Tunnel cleaned. That means crews will need to close I-94 westbound at the tunnel starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. On Wednesday night, both directions of I-94 will close overnight to complete the work.
