As traffic and work pick up at the capitol today, lawmakers are considering exempting hairstylists and makeup artists from licensing requirements.
"It is really, really important to these thousands of mostly women business owners across the state of Minnesota to have them operate their businesses freely," said Senator Karin Housley.
Advocates say it mostly affects freelance stylists and makeup artists who work weddings or other formal events.
It would not exempt people who cut or color hair the measure would still require them to take four-hour safety class.
