New traffic switch starts Friday night along I-35W in Burnsville
A new traffic pattern is coming to the south metro along Interstate 35W in Burnsville. Crews will get started tonight and the new road layout will be in place by Saturday morning.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the southbound MnPASS lanes will be separated between the river and Highway 13. Drivers exiting onto Cliff Road will need to stay to the right and follow the "I-35W/local access" signs. If you’re heading south of Cliff Road, use the two right lanes. Three lanes will stay open at all times. The far southbound lane is reserved for MnPASS customers during peak travel times.
The work is part of the larger Minnesota River Bridge Replacement Project.
In the southeast metro, drivers could encounter delays as I-494 eastbound is scheduled to be reduced to one lane from Highway 3 in Inver Grove Heights to Concord Street in South St. Paul starting at 7 p.m. Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp from Highway 62 eastbound to I-494 eastbound will be closed this weekend as well. Learn more about the project.
