Man in critical condition after single-vehicle crash in St. Paul’s Lowertown

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in St. Paul’s Lowertown neighborhood.

The St. Paul Police Department says at about 6 a.m., they responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Shepard Road and Jackson Street. Police arrived on scene and saw a vehicle with major damage to its front.

An unresponsive man was found in the vehicle. He was suffering from "significant" injuries, authorities said. He was taken to Regions Hospital where he is listed as being in critical condition as of Monday morning.

A witness told an officer that he saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Shepard Road. The vehicle allegedly began to fishtail at the intersection before crashing into multiple light poles.

The incident is under investigation.
