Minneapolis police are looking for the suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left a man seriously hurt earlier this week.

Family members say George Powell was riding his motorcycle at Lake Street and 11th Avenue when he was hit Monday morning.

"I went numb, like this can’t be happening," said Keri Rose, the victim’s fiance.

Powell’s fiancée, Keri Rose, says it was supposed to be a routine drive to work.

"Oh God, immediately my heart dropped," Rose said. "I’m flabbergasted that someone could be so cruel to just take off."

According to the incident report, witnesses described seeing a driver in a "beat up black minivan" hit Powell and drive away.

"I’m an emotional wreck, I’m struggling to think, I’ve been doing my own investigating to try and put these bits and pieces together," Rose said.

Now, loved ones tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that Powell is at Hennepin County Medical Center, with a range of injuries that could prevent him from walking for awhile.

For the couple’s 4-year-old son, Rose admits she doesn’t know what to say.

"He says, ‘My daddy wasn’t in bed this morning, where’s my dad?’ I’m like, ‘Daddy had a long day at work honey, he’s still at work,’" Rose said.

The Minneapolis Police Department hasn’t provided any details on the search for a suspect.

"Nobody deserves to be in this position and not have answers," Rose said.

As Powell heals, his family will lean on patience, not only for a quick recovery but also for justice.

"If you can do that in broad daylight to somebody, that is not OK and I’m in complete shock and I just can’t accept it. This is my family, my husband, they just tore our family apart," Rose said.

Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the Minneapolis Police Department.
