Vikings co-defensive coordinator Andre Patterson provided a progress report this week. The Vikings host Detroit on Sunday.
Patterson’s storied career has brought him through Minnesota twice. Patterson has been coaching for nearly 40 years and he takes great pride in trying to make his defensive personnel the best in the league.
"My philosophy is to coach everybody because you don’t know what’s going to happen. You’ve got to get guys prepared to play even if they haven’t prepared up to this point that’s the deal with the NFL. We work hard at coaching all our guys," said Patterson this week.

Patterson is a teacher at heart. He loves seeing his team playing at a high level and pushes them to higher limits, but his standards are different than most people who simply watch the game as a fan.
"Sacks are a low priority. If you take a defensive lineman and put all his value on sacks, it’s not smart. It’s about being a complete football player and trying to make the quarterback uncomfortable the entire game. That’s what I want to see," Patterson added.
