Edwards played in all 72 games his rookie year, starting in 55 of them. He averaged 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, while shooting 41.7 percent from the field. His shooting percentage was below 37 percent for the first half of the season. In other words, he got better as the year went on. He finished runner-up for Rookie of the Year to Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball.
Edwards, 20, figures to be a starter and finisher for coach Chris Finch this year, with aspirations of being an All-Star.
