Twins reinstate Pineda from 10-day IL

The Minnesota Twins have reinstated starting pitcher Michael Pineda from the 10-day Injured List on Monday.

Pineda, who has missed the teams’ last 20 games with a left mild oblique strain, has made 17 starts on the mound for Minnesota in 2021. He has a record of 4-8 with a 4.13 ERA, 17 walks, 73 strikeouts, 1.24 WHIP and a .264 opponent batting average.

To make room on the roster, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut to Triple-A St. Paul. Gibaut appeared in three games for the Twins, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings pitched (2.70 ERA) with two walks and four strikeouts.
