Shakopee runs past Prior Lake, 49-27

Shakopee, ranked 6th, ended its seven-game losing streak to 9th ranked Prior Lake, as the Sabers controlled the line of scrimmage and came out on top 49-27, on Friday night.

Shakopee didn’t waste any time when junior quarterback Dominic Jackson scored on the opening drive with a 22-yard touchdown run giving the Sabers a 7-0 lead. On Shakopee’s next drive, Johnson went to the air and connected with Nicholas Katona from 16 yards out that extended the Sabers lead to 14-0.

All told, Shakopee scored four touchdowns on the ground, one through the air, and the Sabers even scored on defense when senior defensive back Aaron Lee intercepted a Kyle Haas pass that he ran back 43 yards for a score with 4-seconds left before halftime.

From there, Shakopee stayed comfortably ahead and won the game by 22 points.

Next week, Shakopee will travel to Farmington.
