SMB football rolls past DeLaSalle

The SMB Wolfpack football team defeated the DeLaSalle Islanders 43-7 on Saturday evening at DeLaSalle High School.

The Islanders struck first when senior linebacker DJ Simmons scooped up a fumble and scored for DeLaSalle to make it 7-0 with 9:08 remaining in the first quarter.
Following an Islander safety, Wolfpack senior running back Sanjay Redd would score on a long touchdown run to put SMB up 9-7 with 5:06 left in the first quarter.
Later in the first, Redd would add another touchdown run to make it 16-9 Wolfpack with 2:49 left in the quarter.
Following a blocked punt, Redd would add his third touchdown run of the first quarter to make it 22-7 SMB with 36.1 left in the quarter.
Later in the half, SMB senior quarterback Charlie Johnson would hit junior wideout Kobey Howze for the long touchdown catch to put SMB up 29-7 with 1:54 left in the first half.
The Wolfpack’s opening drive of the second half was one of beauty. SMB would meticulously drive the ball down the field behind the legs of Redd. Them, senior running back Michael Hall would finish the five-plus minute drive with a touchdown run to make it 35-7 SMB with 6:09 left in the third quarter.
SMB would add some more points in the fourth quarter to make it a 43-7 final.
