Itasca County man sentenced for vehicular assault on White Earth Reservation

An Itasca County man was sentenced to prison Thursday in connection to a vehicular assault that seriously injured two people earlier this year.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 35-year-old Kevin Doerr was sentenced to over 13 years (160 months) in prison on one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Court documents state Doerr was driving erratically through Elbow Lake Village on the White Earth Indian Reservation on April 7. Neighbors reported a vehicle trying to run people over and chasing them through the neighborhood.

When law enforcement responded, they found a chaotic scene with people outside and a couple badly injured victims. Doerr was taken into custody and the victims were airlifted to a hospital.

In addition to his prison sentence, Doerr was given three years of supervised release.
