Driver killed in Fridley crash identified
A 29-year-old Wisconsin man who was killed in a Fridley crash Monday night has been identified.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report, Alex Wayne Tuerk, from Spooner, Wis., was killed in the crash just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 65 and Medtronic Parkway, north of Interstate 694.
An incident report states Tuerk, who was in an Acura, was driving south on Highway 65 at a high rate of speed. The Acura crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a traffic signal in the northeast part of the intersection before hitting a Mitsubishi.
Tuerk was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was not hurt, according to the State Patrol.
