'Eggciting update': DNR announces EagleCam captures eagle laying an egg

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources EagleCam is giving people a look at an eagle laying her eggs.

According to the DNR, for the first time in two years, the EagleCam birds have laid an egg.

The first egg arrived around 3:47 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Eagles typically lay between one and three eggs over several days and not all at once, the DNR said.

The incubation of the eggs can last about 35 days, although sometimes the Eagles will delay incubation of the first egg or two so that all eggs can be hatched at the same time.

The EagleCam is part of the Minnesota DNR Nongame Wildlife Program, which helps over 700 species of Minnesota wildlife. Donations help the program thrive and are largely supported by it.
