Loring Park-area stabbing victim identified

A man who died from a stabbing in Minneapolis last week has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 27-year-old Omar Ali Hirsi, of Minneapolis.

His cause of death was determined to be a stab wound to the chest, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Minneapolis Police said officers were called to the 300 block of Oak Grove Street at about 6:14 a.m. on Aug. 12. There, officers found Hirsi suffering a stab wound on an upper floor of a building. Emergency aid was provided before he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police said a suspect was found and arrested a short time later, and a weapon was recovered at the scene.
