Mother sentenced in child endangerment case where 2-year-old shot himself in arm

A Minneapolis woman, who was charged in an incident where her 2-year-old boy shot himself in the arm in 2019, has been sentenced to serve one year in the county workhouse. The sentencing was also stayed for a year, according to court documents.

Christine Thompson originally entered a guilty plea in April and was officially sentenced in June. She will also be on probation for one year.

The mother claimed her son’s injury was only a "nick" initially to police after the boy was taken to the hospital on Sept. 17, 2019. Police later recovered two pistols and ammunition in the bedroom of the home.

The mother initially told one of her sons that the 2-year-old was shot in a "drive-by shooting."
