Prior Lake woman climbs kidney donor list because of her son

A Prior Lake woman may be getting another chance on life thanks to her son.

Mary Haugen is expecting to get a new kidney next month.

Haugen recently moved up the donor list by five years after her son Andy donated a kidney to another person.

"It was almost indescribable because it’s profound gratitude, but Andy has said to me, ‘you owe me no debt mom’ and that’s pretty amazing to have that bond with your son," Haugen said.

"Family is family, and you don’t get a lot of opportunities in life I don’t think to really step up and show what family means," Andy Haugen said.

The person Andy donated his kidney to is doing well.
