The good people at Land O’Lakes are helping 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS feed Minnesota this summer.

The Arden Hills-based member-owned agricultural cooperative is celebrating a century of serving the community.

That was evident at a recent Land O’Lakes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit, where the company partnered with Matter. There, 60 Land O’Lakes employees put together healthy snack packs for kids.

The Matter boxes were given to the nonprofit Appetite for Change in north Minneapolis.

"They’re creating 1,500 healthy snacks for us to distribute to 24 community partners," said Princess Haley, co-founder and senior engagement officer at Appetite for Change. "We are working with them in partnership with the Minnesota Central Kitchen as a part of our food distribution program."

Giving back to the community is a high priority for Land O’Lakes.

"As you know, Land O’Lakes is 100 years old this year," Morgan Kinross-Wright, executive director of the Land O’Lakes Foundation, said. "It was formed by farmers for farmers. And so one of our core values is coming together as a team as an enterprise to give back to our communities."

Kinross-Wright said hunger relief and ending food insecurity is part of the mission at Land O’Lakes. They are matching donations to Matter through the end of August.
