Homeless shelters in the Twin Cities are working extra hard due to cold weather for the second night in a row on Thursday.
For Higher Ground in St. Paul, that means they are expanding their capacity and working with their shelter and outreach partners to get as many people off the streets and into a safe, warm place as they can.
"We take walk-ups in the cold. We will hold people in our lobby if that is what is necessary but this is something really stretching the system thin," said Chris Michaels with Catholic Charities.
Catholic Charities says it needs more resources in order to help more people every day, regardless of the temperature.
