Presidents' Day: What's open, closed
Monday is Presidents' Day, a holiday that celebrates past presidents and commemorates George Washington's birthday.
Events are planned at the Washington Estate in Mount Vernon, Virginia, including a wreath-laying ceremony at Washington's tomb.
Meanwhile, schoolchildren at most Twin Cities public schools will get the day off Monday for Presidents' Day.
Most local government offices are closed for Presidents' Day. That includes government offices in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Minneapolis' 311 information and help line. Police and emergency services, including 911, remain operational.
Banks, post offices and libraries will be closed Monday.
Garbage and recycling pickup could be delayed in various parts of the metro due to the holiday Monday, although pickup will continue in Minneapolis and St. Paul as normal.
The major U.S. financial markets are closed on Monday and trading will resume normal hours on Tuesday.
