Saints honor longtime manager Tsamis, 2019 championship team

The St. Paul Saints had a special pregame ceremony to honor the club’s longtime manager and the 2019 championship team on Thursday.

The organization retired the jersey number of former manager George Tsamis.

Tsamis managed the Saints for 18 season, winning the American Association championship in 2019. He also led the Saints to a league title in 2004.

Tsamis and the Saints parted ways after last season when the club became the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

In addition to Tsamis, St. Paul also honored the rest of the 2019 championship team.

After being drafted by the Twins in the 15th round of the 1989 MLB Draft, Tsamis pitched in 41 games for the team in 1993.

He was named the manager of the Kane County Cougars, an American Association of Professional Baseball team, which is an official Partner League of MLB, for the 2021 season.
