Charges: Crystal man had sex with 15-year-old, fled to Philippines

A Crystal man faces charges after authorities say he had sex with a 15-year-old runaway, according to court records.

A criminal complaint states Matthew Jeremiah Dikit Datuin, 22, faces one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the complaint, Datuin departed for the Philippines on a one-way ticket. He has been charged via a warrant.

The complaint says on Nov. 30, a 15-year-old girl who was reported as a runaway met with police officers to discuss what happened while she was missing. While speaking with investigators, the victim said she was with Datuin and that the two had sex multiple times.

The girl said she knew Datuin because he served as a youth helper at the church she attended in Crystal.

The complaint says officers spoke with Datuin, who said he knew the victim and admitted to having sex with her while she stayed at his home while she was missing.
