Man killed in Brooklyn Center stabbing identified

The man who died after police said his girlfriend stabbed him on Saturday in Brooklyn Center has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 40-year-old Gus Lewis, Jr., of Minneapolis.

Brooklyn Center Police said officers responded to a reported stabbing at around 12:33 a.m. on the 5500 block of Humboldt Avenue North. There, they found Lewis inside a vehicle, suffering from a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to a hospital but later died.

Police said the victim’s girlfriend was arrested at the scene and allegedly stabbed Lewis to get him out of her house.

A homicide investigation is still ongoing.
