Cass County traffic stops lead to drug and ammunition possession arrests, stolen property recovery
Tuesday, the Cass County Sheriff’s office reported two recent traffic stops in the city of Backus led officials to make three arrests.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies conducted the first traffic stop on Feb. 6 to investigate traffic violations. A search of the vehicle revealed stolen property, including a firearm, from a theft that had happened nearby.
To continue the investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for a residence in Backus and found drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
According to the sheriff’s office, 50-year-old Joseph Frausto was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of ammunition as a felon. Additionally, 21-year-old Jessica Ammerman was arrested and taken to the Cass County Detention Center for drug paraphernalia charges.
A second traffic stop conducted on Feb. 8 led to another arrest. According to the sheriff’s office, a 30-year-old man was arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm as a felon. He was taken to the Cass County Detention Center and formal charges are pending.
