This week, golfers teed up at The Meadows golf course at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake to support fundraising for a Miracle on Ice sculpture.

The non-profit, Friends of the 1980 Miracle Hockey Team, LLC, hosted the three-day event. Some members of the original 1980 Olympics hockey team made appearances. Twelve of the players on the team and the late head coach Herb Brooks are Minnesota natives.

The goal was to raise money for the non-profit’s "Monument to a Miracle" project to create a permanent sculpture by artist Robert Esslestion celebrating the historic moment the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men’s hockey team won gold. The monument would be in Lake Placid, New York, outside the Herb Brooks Arena.
