Q&A: 3M Open director Mike Welch on excitement with tourney next week

3M Open tournament director Mike Welch spoke with KSTP Sports about the upcoming tournament set to take place at TPC Twin Cities from Monday through July 25th.

Welch spoke about how excited he is for the tournament to start, the condition of the course, the community’s reaction to having fans back in the stands, how proud he is of the field, and how well the big names are currently playing.
Among the big names competing is world No. 2 Dustin Johnson, who will be competing for the second consecutive year. Along with Johnson is Louis Oosthuizen, who is leading after the third round of the Open Championship.
Another big name is Dylan Frittelli, who was tied for sixth place after the third round of the Open Championship. 2020 3M Open champion Michael Thompson is set to defend his title, as well.
