Zimmer and Spielman hold pre-training camp Vikings news conference

Vikings GM Rick Spielman and coach Mike Zimmer held a pre-training camp news conference on Tuesday. Among news tidbits is that DE Danielle Hunter (neck) and WR Dede Westbrook (knee) will practice on Wednesday.

Zimmer addressed the news of the day that the Vikings and assistant coach Rick Dennison have found a solution for him to remain with the club despite his unvaccinated status. Strict NFL protocols prohibit him from interacting with players. The 63-year-old Dennison will take a role as senior offensive advisor. He’ll do all of his collaboration with the staff virtually. The Vikings promoted Phil Rauscher to fill Dennison’s offensive line coach position.

Spielman wouldn’t answer when pressed on what percentage of his roster is vaccinated. S Harrison Smith and WR Adam Thielen said in June at mini-camp that they are among the roster of players who aren’t vaccinated.
