The Wild have Ryan Suter’s replacement, agreeing to a 1-year, $5 million deal with free agent defenseman Alex Goligoski. The contract contains a full no-trade clause.
Goligoski is quite durable. He’s missed only 12 games over the last eight seasons and has played over 20 minutes per game for 12 consecutive years. Presumably, he’ll be one of the Wild’s top-4 defensemen, continuing to log heavy minutes.
He has played 924 games in his 13-year NHL career. He had 22 points (3 goals, 19 assists) in 56 games with the Coyotes last season.
A former Gopher and Grand Rapids native, Goligoski turns 36-years-old on Friday. In addition to Arizona, he has played in the NHL for Pittsburgh and Dallas.
