Jack McVey will have a story to tell for the rest of his life. McVey scored two goals in five seconds for East Ridge High School in a game against Mounds View recently. The five seconds between goals beat the old record set by Ben Nelson of Little Falls when Nelson scored two goals in six seconds against Alexandria in 2008.
"I didn’t even know until I was walking out of the rink when someone yelled from their car that it was a state record. I was like, ‘Oh, wow!,’" McVey told KSTP Sports. "You never think you’d ever do it that fast back-to-back. It was pretty cool."

"I think we said, ‘Holy Cow’ and then what a pass because (John) Kremer’s spin-o-rama pass, the old Denis Savard, was pretty cool. Both were great passes and massive goals in a 0-0 game that was tight," said Dustin Vogelgesang, East Ridge head coach.
McVey leads the team in goals with three on the season.
East Ridge will play Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday at 7:15 pm.
ED. NOTE: Initial reports based on the official scoresheet the night of the game showed McVey’s goals were four seconds apart. The video was reviewed, and it was later determined the goals were five seconds apart.
