No. 8 Prior Lake boys hockey takes down Eagan behind huge second period

The No. 8 Prior Lake Lakers boys hockey team defeated the Eagan Wildcats 9-1, Thursday evening at the Eagan Civic Arena.

The Lakers struck first when junior forward Sam Rice found junior forward Will Schumacher for a goal to make it 1-0 Prior Lake with 9:22 left in the first. Then, on the ensuing faceoff, Prior Lake won it and immediately pushed the puck into the Eagan zone and scored when senior forward Ryan Hadland hit junior defenseman, Jackson Anderson, who found the back of the net to make it 2-0 with 9:03 left in the first period.
Prior Lake then proceeded to dominate the second period. The scoring started when, just 14 seconds into the second, Rice scored off a tip on a shot from senior defenseman Keegan Masser to make it 3-0.
Eagan was able to get one in the net when senior forward Nick Boor scored to make it 3-1 with 14:52 left in the second.
Not even two minutes later though, Rice scored again, this time off an assist from Anderson to put Prior Lake up 4-1 with 14:52 remaining in the period. Just over one minute later, Lakers junior forward Blake Dicke scored to make it 5-1 with 12:32 in the second. 34 seconds after the Dicke goal, junior defenseman Richard Carsten scored for Prior Lake to make it 6-1 with 11:58 left in the second. Finally, senior forward Bennett Soderberg made a beautiful pass to senior Marco Bianchi who scored, making it 7-1 with 43.9 left in the period.
In the third period, Hadland and junior Alex Bump both added goals of their own for Prior Lake. The Lakers improve to 4-0-1 on the season.
