Gophers beat Minnesota State-Mankato 2-1 in women’s hockey

The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team holds on to beat Minnesota State-Mankato 2-1 and earns a WCHA sweep on Friday night at Ridder Arena.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead thanks to Audrey Wethington, she scored her first collegiate goal in the first period, her sister Madeline was on the assist.
The Gophers made it 2-0 in the second period, just seconds into a power play courtesy of Grace Zumwinkle, Crystalyn Hengler and Emily Oden got the assist.
Minnesota State-Mankato got on the board thanks to Brittyn Fleming in the second period scoring with just :28 seconds remaining in the second period.
Gophers goalie Makayla Pahl earned her first win on the season and had 18 saves on the night.
The Gophers are 5-1, while Minnesota State-Mankato falls to 1-5 on the season.
