Bailey, prior to the game vs. Jacksonville two weeks ago, had made 12 of his 14 field goal attempts and 26 of his 27 extra point kicks. But since then, he’s missed seven of nine kicks, including four in Sunday’s loss at Tampa.
"You have to look at history, you have to look at past performances, you have to look at the person," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday. "Sometimes you [reporters] write bad articles, does your editor come in and say, ‘Hey, either write this one better or I’m going to fire you?’ Or does he look at what you’ve done in the past? It’s all the same stuff. This guy is a solid kid. What did he hit, 28 in a row from September ’19 to October 2020 or something like that? I have to take all of that into consideration as well."
The Vikings have kept Bailey on the roster, but have brought in kickers for tryouts this week. The biggest name is former Cardinals, Bucs, Jets, and Panthers kicker Chandler Cantanzaro.
