St. Thomas football upping its recruiting with move to FCS

With the St. Thomas football team moving up from D-III to D-I FCS in the fall of 2021, they are recruiting different type athletes than in the past.
We talked with a few local player who hold Tommies offers. Many gather at GameFace Training in Maple Grove under the tutelage of trainer DeVentri Jordan.

The Tommies recently picked up a commitment from Champlin Park senior RB Shawn Shipman. Among local players who hold Tommies offers: Buffalo senior OL Gerit Poncius, Hopkins senior LB RJ Chakolis, and Elk River senior RB Carter Otto.
St. Thomas will play in the Pioneer League, which doesn’t allow offers of athletic scholarships. However, St. Thomas and other league schools can offer financial aid.
