Gophers transfer center Robbins granted immediate eligibility
University of Minnesota transfer center Liam Robbins was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, the Gophers announced Wednesday.
Robbins, a Davenport, Iowa native, transferred to Minnesota this summer after played two years at Drake University.
"We are excited that the NCAA granted Liam immediate eligibility," said Gophers head coach Richard Pitino. "He fits our style of play perfectly and we expect him to make an impact from day one."
Getting to know new Gophers big man Liam Robbins
In his sophomore season, Robbins averaged 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game along with 2.9 blocks per contest in 34 games. He was named All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team, All-Defensive Team and MVC Most Improved player. He also set a school record with 99 total blocks, the third most in MVC history, which was also fifth in the nation.
Robbins is the nephew of Gophers associate head coach Ed Conroy and a cousin of senior Hunt Conroy.
