Tuesday could be the day that the Big Ten presidents make a call on fall sports, including football. Earlier Monday, the Detroit Free Press reported that football would be canceled in 2020.
We talked with Gophers legend and parent of a current player, Darrell Thompson, about that possibility.
Darrell’s son, True, is a red-shirt senior wide receiver on the Gophers. Darrell also serves as the radio analyst for Gophers broadcasts.

The Big Ten issued a revised football schedule last week that has the Gophers playing their opener on September 5 at Michigan State. The 10-game conference only schedule was the result of the conference’s decision to eliminate nonconference games because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But it now appears as if the Gophers might not play any teams this fall.
The Gophers began summer camp on Friday. Star wide receiver Rashod Bateman has already opted out of the season, choosing to focus on NFL Draft preparations.
