Vikings embrace the changes to 2020 training camp

In this atypical environment, Vikings players are pretty relaxed about the season starting in a month

Riley Reiff is going into his 9th season in the NFL and has the most experience as an offensive lineman on the team. He believes the younger guys on the team are making great strides, despite not having much contact and live reps against the team’s celebrated defense.

"I’m an open book. I’m the oldest guy and I welcome the young guys reaching out to me for advice. We are cross-trained at our positions, we practice those scenarios. I’m comfortable playing next to all the guys," said Reiff.

On special teams, both K Dan Bailey and P Britton Colquitt are feeling pretty good these days. Not only do they not have a traditional competition with other kickers and punters in the league to push them during camp, both Bailey and Colquitt inked three year extentions in the offseason. Bailey got a 3-year, $10-million dollar contract with $6-million guaranteed, and Colquitt a 3-year $9-million dollar contract with $5 million guaranteed.

"I feel good and healthy. Last year there were a lot of positives to build on. Both Britton (Colquitt) and Austin (Cutting) have been great to work with. I spoke with Britton a little bit about the contract. The organization is great, the team is great, and it’s good to have ten games indoors, you can’t complain about that," said Bailey.

"It’s good to know Dan (Bailey) and I will be here for a while. It helps to help continuity in what you do to be able to stay successful. We have a great relationship with each other," said Colquitt.

Bailey ranked 4th in the league in field goal percentage in 2019 at .931 percent, while Colquitt was 6th in the league in net average with 42.6 yards per punt and no touchbacks.
