D’Angelo Russell to represent Timberwolves at NBA Draft lottery
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that D’Angelo Russell will represent the organization at the 2020 NBA Draft lottery, which will be held Thursday night.
The event will be virtual this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be televised on ESPN starting at 7:30 p.m.
"I’m honored to represent the Timberwolves at this year’s draft lottery," said Russell. "We are excited about what we are building in Minnesota and look forward to continuing the progress with the lottery and in the draft.”
The Timberwolves are tied with the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers for the best odds at landing the first overall draft spot — 14%. Minnesota also owns the No. 17 overall pick, which originally belonged to Brooklyn and was acquired by the Timberwolves from Atlanta before the 2019-20 trade deadline. It’s the seventh time in team history the Timberwolves have had multiple first-round picks in the same draft. The Timberwolves also own the No. 33 overall pick (No. 3 in the second round) in the draft.
