Q&A: Paul Molitor on entering college HOF, the Twins, and missing working in the game

St. Paul native and MLB Hall of Famer Paul Molitor recently found out he’ll be going into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.
He talked to our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson about that, the current Twins, missing managing the Twins, and more.

Molitor will become the second Gopher player and third member of the Minnesota Baseball program to be enshrined in the hall, joining Dave Winfield (2006) and Dick Siebert (2007).
Molitor is already a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. From 1975-1977, he batted .350 with 18 home runs, 11 triples, 159 hits, 245 total bases, 112 runs scored, 99 RBI and 52 stolen bases. He was named a First Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten recipient in both 1976 and 1977.

He went on to be drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1977 MLB Draft and played 21 years in MLB, collecting 3,319 hits, which is ninth most all-time in MLB history.
He also managed the Twins from 2015-2018.
Molitor will be inducted during a virtual ceremony in the coming weeks. At the time of our interview, he had not been told what day that’ll be.
