Vikings RB Alexander Mattison ready for training camp

Viking Alexander Mattison is one of the best No. 2 running backs in the NFL.
He spent a good portion of his offseason here in the Twin Cities training with many teammates, and KSTP Sports’ Darren Wolfson connected with him.

Mattison was frequently joined at Woodbury high school by WRs Adam Thielen, Chad Beebe, and Tajae Sharpe, and fullback CJ Ham. Offensive linemen Garrett Bradbury, Ezra Cleveland, Dakota Dozier, Brian O’Neill, and Aviante Collins also showed up regularly.
Mattison had a productive rookie year, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, and had 19 runs that resulted in first downs. He also added 10 catches for 82 yards in 13 regular season games. He was the Vikings’ 3rd round pick in 2019 out of Boise St.

Mattison and many other Vikings report to training camp on Tuesday. But they won’t hit the field for many days. First, players will have to test negative on two COVID-19 tests.
