The 3M Open will need to make a decision in the very near future as to whether the PGA event will take place starting on July 20 at the TPC in Blaine.
KSTP-TV sports director Joe Schmit spoke with Hollis Cavner, the CEO of Prolinks Sports, on Wednesday. Cavner is the organizer of the tournament.
"It’s up to the governor if we play or not. We’d go to a reduced build if we did it," Hollis Cavner said.

The PGA season has missed the past 11 weeks due to Covid-19. In order for this tournament to get off the ground, it’ll need to have approval for fans to show up, even at a reduced number.
"It makes no financial sense to do it when you take away the fans. You’d be taking millions and millions of dollars out of the tournament," Cavner added.
"We’re not asking the state to allow us to have 20 to 40,000 fans a day, like we did last year. It would be more like 5 to 10,000. That would be perfect for us," Cavner said.
Look for a decision to be made in the next two weeks. If it does get approval, the tournament will go July 20-26.
