Away from the basketball court, Jones discussed why he thought it was important for him to join Minneapolis protests in lieu of the death of George Floyd, about what advice he would give other people to enact change in society, and what it’s like seeing his middle brother, Tyus, a Memphis guard, become a first time dad.
On the court, Tre discussed what changes his body and game have gone through since his last game at Duke, how much former Gopher Daniel Oturu motivates him when they workout together, how excited he is to go train at Peak Performance Project (P3) in Santa Barbara, if he has visualized his name being called in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft, and how much better his shot has gotten in the last year.
Tre is one of a few Minnesotans who have a realistic chance to get drafted. In addition, Oturu, former Hopkins star Zeke Nnaji, former DeLaSalle star Tyrell Terry, and former East Ridge big man Freddie Gillespie all should/could have their names called. Former Champlin Park star McKinley Wright is testing the Draft waters, but is maintaining his eligibility. Same goes for new Gopher Both Gach, who’s expected to withdraw from the Draft process soon.
