State Hockey: Slukynsky’s 7-point night sends Warroad past Hutchinson

Warroad senior forward Grant Slukynsky and freshman forward Jayson Shaugabay both recorded hat tricks for the Warriors in the quarterfinals of the Class A boys hockey state tournament on Wednesday, March 4 at the Xcel Energy Center.

The goals helped No. 1 seeded Warroad (27-2-0) earn a commanding 9-3 win against unseeded Hutchinson (19-9-1).
With five points in the first period, Slukynsky tied the state tournament record set in 1951 by John Mayasich of Eveleth for Most Points One Period. Sophomore forward Brady Knorr had two goals for the Tigers.
Warroad plays 4-seed Mahtomedi in the Class A Semifinals at 1pm on Friday
