State Hockey: Mahtomedi rallies late in Class A Quarter against Delano

Four goals in the third period, including an empty net goal, solidified No. 4 seed Mahtomedi 5-2 victory over No. 5 seed Delano in the last quarterfinal of the day at the Class A boys hockey state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.

Mahtomedi (21-8-0) had 34 shots on goal, with 28 shots coming in the last two periods.
With the win, Mahtomedi breaks Delano’s 19-0 record when leading by two goals after the first period.
Delano senior goalie, Cade Lommel had 29 saves for the Tigers (22-7-0).
Mahtomedi advances to Friday’s Class A State Semifinals. They’ll face #1-seed Warroad at 1pm
