Spicer native Shane Zylstra trying to follow brother Brandon’s path into NFL

Spicer native Shane Zylstra is hoping to land on an NFL roster like older Brandon, currently a wide receiver with Carolina and a former Viking. The two brothers are training together this offseason, with Brandon teaching Shane all that he knows.
We caught up with the brothers after a recent workout in Eagan.

Shane, also a wide receiver, is the all-time record-holder in many categories for Minnesota-State Mankato. That’s the same school that produced current Vikings star Adam Thielen.
To show he’s versatile, Shane has been working out at tight end this pre-draft process. Through his agent, he hopes to do a virtual Pro Day. That would then be sent to every NFL team’s front office. Shane also has the benefit of scouts coming to Mankato last year to watch him.

Brandon, 26, is entering his second year with Carolina after spending 2018 with the Vikings. He took an uncoventional route to the NFL, with a stop in the Canadian Football League first. He played in college for D-III Concordia-Moorhead.
