Andover claims first AA girls hockey title, halts Edina dynasty

A night after she scored an overtime winner to get her Andover Huskies into the Class AA Final, Gabby Krause’s goal with four minutes to go was the eventual Championship winner in a 5-3 victory over Edina.

Andover’s first State Girls Hockey championship ends Edina’s run of three straight state titles.
Jamie Nelson assisted Krause’s game-winner over Minnetonka in the semifinals, and provided the game-winning assist again in the title game.
Andover trailed 2-0 in the first period after Edina got early goals from Emma Conner and Katie Davis, but Krause and Peyton Hemp had it tied before first period came to an end.
Davis’ goal 47-seconds into the second period had Edina up again at 3-2, but Andover’s Tyra Turner evened it up two minutes later sending the game to the second intermission tied at 3.
Krause’s eventual game-winner was followed by a late empty netter that sealed the title for teh Huskies.
Andover outshot Edina 28-16 in the Championship game. Amanda Pelkey made 13 saves to earn the win.
