With just over a week left before Election Day, two Republican men hoping to win Minnesota seem to be closing in on the Democrats who have been outpacing them in recent polls.
This week on “At Issue,” we dig into the numbers of two KSTP/ SurveyUSA polls showing President Donald Trump narrowly trailing Democrat challenger and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, Jason Lewis, a Republican hoping to unseat Sen. Tina Smith, DFL-Minnesota, has attached his wagon to Trump’s — and it seems to be working. Our poll shows the race is a dead heat. Lewis joins us in-studio for a one-on-one conversation about the coronavirus pandemic, public safety and so-called court-packing.
Our political analysts are divided on whether or not Trump has a viable chance at winning Minnesota — a feat not done by any Republican presidential candidate since Richard Nixon in 1972. They also share insight into the hotly-contested 7th Congressional District where incumbent DFL Rep. Collin Peterson is facing an uphill battle against Republican challenger Michelle Fischbach.
