The top story in this week’s edition of “At Issue” is Gov. Tim Walz’s decision to open up a wider range of outdoor activities, from golf and shooting ranges to bait shops and marinas. But for some Minnesotans, the governor has gone too far.
Protesters this week crowded the sidewalks outside his residence on Summit Avenue and cars slowed down, gumming up traffic. It’s all part of a push, they say, to “liberate Minnesota.”
Walz responded to the protesters — and to President Donald Trump, who tweeted about it — and even defended their right to free speech. Our political analysts rate how Walz is doing and weigh in on Trump’s response.
Meanwhile, the Legislature approved a bill allowing customers to buy beer and wine in their takeout orders from bars and restaurants. Tom talked to one bar owner who’s preparing for business life after the restrictions are lifted. Lawmakers also approved another wide-ranging COVID-related package.
