Advocates rally at Capitol for increased disability services

More than 1,000 disability advocates gathered Tuesday in the Minnesota Capitol rotunda for Disability Services Day.

The advocates raised awareness on the need to support services that allow Minnesotans with disabilities to live and work in their communities. Those services, they say, have been under strain for years.

They say the state is struggling to get direct support professionals because of low wages, high turnover and large job vacancies.

Gov. Tim Walz spoke at the rally to voice support for higher wages and more robust staffing.
